Costa Rica (3) Sámara, extraordinary beach at the Atlantic Ocean

A dream of a long, well-maintained and diverse beach around a huge wide bay, sometimes magnificent high waves, sometimes pleasant to swim at low tide and a poem for morning or evening beach walking (with spectacular sunsets).

Sitting along the southern Pacific coast of the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Guanacaste, Sámara is small sunny town with pristine beaches and picture-perfect scenery. The town is both a popular beach resort community as well as a major component to the cattle and fishing industry in Costa Rica. Sámara is considered to be one of the safest beaches.

A detour to the surroundings of Sámara

10 days at the Hotel BELVEDERE. Good, but ...

The plants and flowers brimming hotel complex - including pool - is perfect. My room was huge ... wlan, friendliness and cleanliness perfect. The (included) breakfast, served in a dreamlike view room, was ok ... the quantity, however, corresponded to the size of a child's portion.

Warning! Do not book the Belvedere between Christmas and New Year. Directly across from the hotel is a big empty area (place). After the Christmas days a huge fairground (donnybrook!) will be built here and already during the construction there will be a roaring - at first tentative - deafening music. In the following days a horror of yelling music and shrieking booms from late afternoon until after midnight - about 6-7 hours - uninterrupted - in volumes that throw you out of bed.

At my booking - of course - they had mentioned NOTHING. And during my stay, they acted as if they were scared and angry because they had no idea (!) that something like this could arise.

(And yes ... it's true ... pigs might fly).

However, in December 2011 there was talk that the owners wanted to sell the hotel ...
